We solved this problem years ago, and it has never failed! The 4x4 post is wrapped in galvanized metal which is too slippery for animals to climb, the post is too high for squirrels to jump from the ground, and the inverted popcorn tin makes it impossible for them to navigate up and around to the base of the feeder. Keep any nearby tree branches trimmed back so that animals cannot attack from above and your seed will be safe!
