If you have allergies or take any medications, keep a list of them -- preferably laminated -- in your purse or wallet. If something happens to you and you end up in the hospital without anyone there to advocate for you, admitting physicians will usually check your wallet or purse for insurance information. When they do, they'll find your list. Trust me, this is a big deal. If a hospital wants to put you on medication that interferes with meds you already take, or if they do surgery using latex gloves and you're allergic to them, you could end up with a completely avoidable -- but potentially deadly -- complication. Make the list and pop it in your purse or wallet!
