Make a comparison of your local banks and credit unions and you will usually find that the CUs pay higher interest rates on your savings, CDs and even checking accounts, have lower fees, and often offer member discounts at local businesses, and your money is federally insured! Joining is no longer the exclusive process it was of years ago. Most potential members are welcome at their local credit union and will find the service exceptional.
