Obviously our view is restricted at night. This is especially the case on unlit roads or roads with less lighting. We are always aware but with darkness comes a new challenge. Like anything practice makes it easier. Here's a few key points.
1. Adjust speed when we are unsure due to lack of light.
2. Properly use high beam (no closer than 150 m of oncoming & 60 m when approaching vehicle).
3. Don't make common mistake of overdriving lights. This refers to driving at a higher speed than lights can show in order to make a safe stop. For example at 80km a vehicle requires 60m to safely stop. However a low beam only has a range of 45m.
