If you have the chance to communicate with your professors (or teaching assistants if you are at a large university), definitely do. If you can email, call, schedule one-on-one time or speak up in class it is always beneficial to have some sort of relationship.
Having a positive relationship with a professor can help if you are ever in a bind like needing to head home for a family emergency. A professor is also more inclined to steer you in the right direction if he or she sees you are missing a concept or your grade is suffering.
Also, that professor can be a good reference for a future job or even know of job opportunities when you graduate.
