Cold weather and tomatoes don't go well together. Unless you live in a place with year round sunshine don't start your garden in the winter.
The ideal temperature is around 60 F during the day though 75 and 85 are preferred--but you can't control the weather.
Sustained temperatures 90 and above aren't good for this delicious fruit though.
