A light bulb went off when I realized that I could turn the warm beer can quickly into a cold, drinkable can of beer by spinning it on ice. I had some spare money so I checked to see if there was a patent for a device that would do the spinning automatically. I envisioned being able to put the warm beer in the portable cool spinning device and then it would do the spinning thus creating a cold beer—as it was a smallish device, it could be used on camping trips, road trips, etc. I decided to call my invention the ‘Spin Cooler’. I then found an industrial design company to make it—the owner told me for an amount that exceeded $10,000, he could create such a device. He went to work and the final bill was higher than what I had wanted—but I paid it fully before completion. When I got to see the final product, I just about croaked. It looked like something that my 7 year old son would make and it didn’t work. If you are hiring someone to do a design for you—hold back 50% till the end.
