My dad worked long hours so whenever something broke my mother would always figure out a way to fix it, even if it was just a temporary fix. Back then there was no Googling from your phone. As mom pulled into the local grocery store she heard a terrible sound and all the people in the parking lot stop to watch us pull in. When we got out the exhaust pipe had rusted and was hanging off the car and on to the ground. My mom had her hands on her head and mumbled things about my dad not fixing what he was supposed to and what she was going to do. My then 5 year old sister got out, put her hands on her hips and said, “Welp, looks like we’re gonna have to duct tape it.” My mom looked at her and said, “That’s actually a really good idea!” So she went into the grocery store and bought duct tape and fixed it right there in the parking lot. I have no idea if or when dad had it fixed but for a mother of two young girls, it worked perfectly!
