My mother always kept a journal in the glovebox of our minivan. Each vacation we took she would document every detail while we were in the car. She documented mileage, where we stopped and when. And total trip time. Of course, there are ways online to track these sort of things but it was so fun to look back and read about our road trips in actual journals. And sometimes we were allowed to help fill it out when we were old enough to write.
Mom would even describe what we (kids) would get to snack on at rest stops and gas stations. We loved reading about it, mom loved doing it and it is a great way to remember all the trips we took growing up.
