Leave the crockpot alone! I know it’s tempting to peek in at what you’re cooking every few minutes. When I first got a crockpot, I was so worried about messing up the slow-cooker recipes that I’d crack the lid and look inside to check on my handiwork. As it turns out, every time the crockpot lid is opened, it takes 30 minutes for the temperature to get back up where it needs to be. By opening the lid so many times, I was setting my mealtime back by hours! My advice? Read the recipe carefully, put the lid on, and leave it alone!
