A customary aspect of East Asian society is that many people do not dry their clothing in a traditional electric dryer. Instead, they air dry the clothes after they've been hand-washed or mechanically cleansed in the washer.
Why not try it? You can purchase a drying rack to hang your clothes on after they're washed. Or if you have a balcony, put them out on there. Nothing better than letting the fresh air and toasty sun dry them naturally.
And for those folks who still have a clothing line in their backyard, make use of it. It doesn't get any better than that when doing one's part to live a more environmentally sustainable life.
