If you are having an outdoor wedding and especially if it is warm outside, don't bring your cake outside until right before the reception. Take into account where the sun is setting and if it your cake will be in direct sunlight. The icing (even fondant) will start to melt in warm, humid or in direct contact with the sun. And no wants a melting cake. My ceremony and reception were in the same location and I was worried about when the cake would come out. We ended up having our cake brought out right after the ceremony started. No one saw it come out and we avoided any of the fondant melting in the heat. -Anonymous
