Steve Bohannon--living with Parkinson's disease

We should communicate to friends and family that, while we want to maintain our independence as much as possible, we might need their help a little more than we did in the past. We also have to be able to ask for assistance in a way where we do not give up our dignity. We still need their love and support and it is important for our family and friends to know that our self-worth probably could use a little more reinforcement than normal. There are many situations that could be much worse to deal with, and you do not have to look far to see that. My family and my faith have given me the strength to get through difficult times, and my sense of humor has helped me, too. I feel strongly that there is a cure on the horizon, and for a lot of diseases that cannot be said. I consider myself lucky because I am young enough that I feel I will have many Parkinson’s-free years ahead of me when the cure is discovered. Every significant accomplishment or discovery starts with a dream. Never stop dreaming.
