As summer arrives and the heat rises, we shed those layers that kept us warm from winter storms and spring’s cool nights. More skin will be in, and so will those pesky holiday pounds, from New Year’s all the way to Easter. If one isn't a gym rat, it can be hard maintaining a rigid fitness schedule. Here are three easy tips to jump start one’s own weight loss journey. And I’m speaking from firsthand experience.

1. Adding water to your diet: if H2O isn't currently apart of your diet, that needs to change. I was a heavy anti-waterist, refuting the benefits simply because I thought it had no taste. The truth is it's a natural cleanser, allowing our bodies to function more efficiently.

2. Walking: If one is apprehensive about diving into a full-fledged workout regiment, simply begin with walking. The cardio does wonders for beginning one's journey to a more lean you.

3. Watch proportions: Not everyone can cut out certain foods automatically. Instead of not eating the foods you enjoy, learn to eat less of them. Have one serving of the fried chicken, but return for the green vegetables. Also follow the serving size guidelines on groceries. They put them on boxes for a reason.

Now that you have these tips, try them out for a month. Results may vary, but it's a start.
