Use regular tape on the walls to help you keep your alignment and to help keep you from damaging the walls too much when putting up curtains.
All you have to do is place the tape where you're going to nail and mark the spot also with a pen if you want to be really specific. This is really great if you're renting a space and don't want to mess up those precious walls.
