I don’t encourage my baseball players to train with weights, especially at the younger ages because a young athlete's bones and body are still developing.
I know some sports do and maybe even some baseball guys do, but I’m not a big fan of it.
I think to be honest, throwing and conditioning wise, which could be a bit of weight training but very little, it’s more of a conditioning thing.
Make sure you’re in shape as an athlete to be able to play. Make sure you’re legs and arms and all of that are ready to withstand a playing season or a playing period of time as opposed to trying to get bigger.
At a young age you don't need to be big. You need to be healthy and in game shape. At times you'll play 3 or 4 games in a day, you need to be able to withstand that. Focus on your mechanics and stamina and you'll notice the difference soon.
