This one sounds obvious, but I constantly see people taking pills with soda, hot coffee, milk, etc. Pills are meant to be taken with water! Hot beverages can melt the coating off of the pill before you get the chance to swallow it -- this can ruin the effects of a time-release pill, make the pill taste terrible or cause choking because the slippery surface is gone. Milk, while a cold beverage, can delay or alter the effects of multiple medications; check with your doctor before taking any pills with dairy products. Soda, while cold, has bubbles that can make a pill float and, therefore, harder to swallow. Just stick to water, people. The ease of swallowing and the correct dosage of your medications is worth it.
