An important part of writing fiction is making it seem true so that people can have a willing suspension of disbelief. Do your research on subjects that you're unfamiliar with but want to include in your story . Once you learn about that subject, you will be able to talk about it confidently within the parameters of your story and you'll be able to go into all-important detail about it.
Remember, detail is the life of fiction.
