Completing your book

I have talked to a number of people—and I am sure you have, too—who are writing books about topics they are passionate about. However, the bulk of those people don’t get around to finishing the book either because they don’t have the time, they lack the confidence to finish it or they simply get bogged down with the process.

Two useful tips I was given with regards to completing a book are:
1)Just write—don’t edit or obsess on details as you go. You can always go back to edit and tweak things but getting on a writing roll is key. Not ‘editing-as-you-go’ saves you from getting bogged down.
2)The other tip that helped me was to avoid thinking about “Will anyone like the book?” or “Is it good enough?” I set a goal to complete the book and then told myself I would analyze the finished product at that point. Once again, this allowed me to rid myself of unproductive ‘self-doubt’ time and just get the book done!

Good luck!
